The Paris 2024 run ends for Filipina swimmer Kayla Sanchez.

Sanchez exited the women’s 100m freestyle event after finishing 7th in her semifinal heat and 15th overall.

Going up against some of the world's elite swimmers in the semifinals, Sanchez was banking on her strong run in the qualifiers, where she reset the national record at 53.67 seconds.

However, the 23-year-old Pinay’s dream run ended after being unable to catch up to her foes in semifinal 2, which featured World Record holder Sarah Sjöström of Sweden.

Only the top 8 swimmers advance to the final.

Hong Kong's Siobhan Haughey led the semifinals with a time of 52.64 seconds, followed by Australians Shayna Jack (52.72) and Mollie O’Callaghan (52.75).

Junxuan Yang, Marrit Steenbergen, Sarah Sjöström, Torri Huske, and Gretchen Walsh completed the top eight.
